When i met hot mom hani last saturday, for the 1st time after knowing her for a year.. its like ive met her many many times before. so at 1 point she was saying somethin about we think in english.. they think in malay.. at times its difficult. then we talk about malay dramas.
at this point i realy didnt think much of this.. but when m back home (settled and kenyang, can think better).. i went through her blog and khemy's. her blog was goin on about the think in english thing. khemy's was about malay soaps (which we luv to poke fun at, especially yusof haslam's). then while driving to work i think it does make sense in a way to whom you realy click and to whom you dont.
i notice most of my peeps are the english thinkers. these group of peeps, the squabbles would only be on major2 issues. and no matter how much we bicker.. we're all good. see, we think alike. and we understand alike. like hani says, explaining the underlying message in ugly betty and desperate housewives or grey's anatomy is frustrating. in this group.. non existent.
the malay thinker on the other hand.. entahla.. macam very tiny issues can be super huge. and yes, explaining.. explaining.. explaining. d.r.a.m.a. and they dont get why we think to a certain extent, yang (sandra oh) is a super woman that we all must emulate.hehe! i notice this just by thinking of all my brothers.. both sis in law are malay thinkers and my bros will get very annoyed when they just dont get it. both brothers r trying to "english think" my nephews. my baby brother once complained his ex only watch movies w/ malay subtitles. and yes, she's very bingit w/ the small stuff.
how come ek? and to think of it.. lets put our malaysian tv here. anythin from yusof haslam iss soo malay. macam khemy cakapla.. scene meja makan & jeep merah every episode ade... for atleast 5 minits.. before & after iklan. anythin from yasmin ahmad is malaysian.. inteligently malaysian. i guess it explains why yasmin ahmad and sharifah amani always gets their butt on the stove.
i guess it does makes sense.

yeah yeah..whenever i talk talk english to my son, hubby was like...you know the look..and i keep reminding him, sok anak susah nak masuk universiti kalau tak pandai omputeh..but it's true what..if not why suddenly school syllabus changed to english learning maths and science?
i used to watch dallas, knot's landing, six million dollar man with my big sisters when i was like 9, 10 years old with my father's approval and suprisingly/shamely i learned english from joan collin and JR Ewing apart the kiss kiss stuff la..okay la tu..ni tak, katun pun nak translate bahasa melayu..encik krab, encik krab, atau... sekarang masa untuk apa? masa untuk thinking chair.....boleh....?

exactly. anak sedara aku, bukak je tv menggagau carik remote sbb nak tukar language to malay. terima kasih kepada kontribusi ibunye. hehe! and i watched knots landing too, tapi bile part gomoi2 mama suh gi dapo amik buahla, air la, ceklat la. wakakakk!
i couldn't have said it better myself..there i was last night trying to catch ghost whisperer or something on tv and my boys faught iver the remote to watch kaber hero..*sigh*
